VORE CLUB is coming … the meantime, ‘Witch’s Night Out’ (1978)

November 16th, 2011

I know, I know – apologies to any of you who check for updates in the morning every Wednesday and get frustrated with my lateness. Pages WILL be posted tonight.

In the meantime, I wanted to share my recent rediscovery of this surreal and trippy Halloween animated special I remember from my pre-kindergarden days on the Disney Channel – Witch’s Night Out, a Canadian animation from 1978.

It features of the voice of Gildna Ratner, who plays a witch that grants the wishes of two kids, Small and Tender, and their babysitter Bazoowie, to be real monsters for one night on Halloween (and of course, things go horribly awry). I’m pretty sure the entire thing is animated straight-ahead, in this crazy Fred Wolf (ala ‘SchoolHouse Rock’) sort of style. Gildna’s vocal performance is fantastic, and whoever animated her character did an excellent job.

The only place I can find this cartoon online is on Veoh.com, and you have to download the annoying Veoh player application for it to work, but I think this short is well worth it!
